And the Winner is. . .WHO??

John and Charlotte
John O’Hurley and Charlotte Jorgensen

Well, sadly the winner in the pseudo-contest of “Dancing with the Stars” was not John O’Hurley. No, the American public swung the vote and that General-Hospital-chick (who will not be named here by me because I want to be petty) won. Yes, GH-Chick’s dancing greatly improved since the first show but her final routine certainly did not deserve a perfect rating of “10″ or the ridiculous praise from the professional judges. I think it’s great that GH-chick worked so hard and improved so much, but does O’Hurley’s consistent quality count for nothing? Apparently so.

I believe GH-Chick had an unfair advantage as she is currently on the soap opera daytime drama “General Hospital” and has a much wider fanbase than all the other celebrities who were competing. I’m sure the rabid GH fans were burning up the toll-free phone lines voting for her as she should have been axed off of the show within the first two weeks due to her poor performances.

O’Hurley was robbed of a well-deserved victory. I’m incensed. I’m crazed. Yes, I know it’s just a television show and one about ballroom dancing at that, but the unvarying caliber of O’Hurley’s dancing should carry some weight. I’m going to write ABC and tell them so and write a nice fan letter to John O’Hurley too.

Maybe this is why I don’t watch reality-t.v. or beauty pageants anymore. Oh, the humanity.

I couldn’t believe that John O’Hurley lost either!!! He out-danced, out-performed, and out-classed all of the other contestants. I also liked the fact that he and Charlotte Jorgensen decided to “mix things up a bit” and do something the judges and audience wouldn’t expect from them for their final freestyle performance. Joe walked into the living room at one point during the program and said, “I can’t believe you’re still watching this. It’s been nearly two hours!” Yes, of course. I had to watch the encore presentation of the previous week’s episode even though I’d already seen it. Then he said, “Somewhere in Kentucky April is watching the very same program. I bet if we called, she wouldn’t even answer the phone.” Well, I will say that I enjoyed watching the program even though I didn’t like the judges scoring and ultimate choice for the winners. I do hope they have this program next summer! I’ll be watching for it . . . .
