This weekend we went to the Merrick Inn for dinner to celebrate my best friend Leslie’s birthday. The company was great, of course, and the food delicious. It was probably one of the few real dining experiences we’ve had since we’ve moved to Kentucky. We had the tenderloin skewers as our appetizer and the great southern twist was that they were on a bed of cheese grits. Yummy!
I guess my love for a good dining experience is a holdover from living in Seattle. Many of my fondest memories are of having dinner with my close friends. Dinner would be an event in itself lasting for up to a few hours including appetizers, entree, dessert and multiple espresso drinks (this was Seattle – home of Starbucks and Seattle’s Best Coffee). I think we fancied ourselves as bourgeoisie.
I do miss fine dining with friends but there is something to be said for grabbing a cheap lunch at the local Mexican restaurant. Who doesn’t like a well-made beef chimichanga and flan, right? I say you can’t be fancy everyday and really appreciate it anyhow. Besides, the food was just a means to an end; if you want to know someone, share a meal with them.

hi!
Sounds yummy
luv,
