Sleepy….

When I get to my office in the morning, someone will invariably comment how tired he/she is. Usually there is a pretty good reason given like “the baby kept me up” or “I couldn’t fall asleep” but I never hear “Boy, I feel great today!” or anything remotely close. Perhaps a chipper person like that knows to keep silent as the rest of us zombies would quickly form a lynchmob.

Where do those perpetually bouncy people get their bounce? The only time I was that perky was when I had an allergic reaction and had to take prednisone for a month. I’d be refinishing furniture at 4 a.m. I got a lot done but I was a little crazy.

I found a new alarm clock to ease me into these dark mornings. Randy thinks its a bit ridiculous but I really like it. Thirty minutes before I’m supposed to wake up, the light on the clock starts to glow and slowly gets brighter as it gets closer to the time set for the alarm. I find that by the time the alarm sounds, I’m almost if not already awake. It’s like my own personal sunrise which is ironic because I have a phobia about sunrises. Anyhow, I’m finding it’s easier to wake up.

What drives me batty is the irony that if I do something physical I’ll be less tired while doing nothing makes me more tired. On the other hand we Americans aren’t getting enough sleep. It’s hard to keep it all straight; do I get up early to exercise or make sure I get eight hours of sleep or should I be doing both?

Thinking about this just wears me out. I think I’ll go lay down before dinner.

I know what you mean, maybe it is something in the air… maybe it is us getting older.. maybe it is because I am laying off caffienne for the first time since 1996.

    Who knows!
