We had a great time at Court Days this weekend. It doesn’t officially end until today but we had to go back to work although I think Randy may head to downtown Mount Sterling for lunch from one of the food vendors. I’ve posted a few pictures to our flickr.com photostream of the festivities.
Although there were hundreds of vendors there, it seemed to us that there were less vendors than in years past possibly because of the price of gas or perhaps the landowners are charging too much rent for the booths to be profitable. Still, I managed to find a few bargains including some Home Interiors candles (I love their sugared pineapple candles), costume jewelry, and socks.
Mostly though, we ate . . . and ate. My favorite fare this year was the peach dumplings drizzled with a clear syrup and topped with vanilla ice cream. I would have taken a picture for our flickr photostream, but frankly I was too interested in eating it to stop and take a picture. I finally bought food from the Cajun food vendor as I’ve always meant to over the last couple of years but I seemed to never remember until my stomach had already raised a white flag. Although the jambalaya looked and smelled delicious, I settled on the red beans and rice. Fabulous. The roasted corn still in its husk from Dan the Corn Man was delicious too; it’s hard to beat the flavor of roasted corn.
My best friend Leslie tried the sugar-coated roasted nuts for the first time. After tasting them she couldn’t believe that she’d been missing out on these little treats all these years. Randy and I plowed through more than half a pound of almonds and cashews ourselves.
All-in-all, it was a good weekend at Court Days. My waistline and scale are crying, “Foul!” but now that I’m back to normal life, we will return to a more reasonable diet.

I liked the photos. The food looked good. I wondered if that was a new ring!
