Randy and I seem to be stretching out Christmas as long as possible. We opened our gifts, from each other and family and friends who sent them to us, on Saturday as we left right after church on Sunday to drive to his folks’ house. Today we’ll be going to his next oldest sister’s house for dinner and then everyone will be coming back to his parents for the giant mayhem of gift exchanging tomorrow. Don’t get me wrong, I really love Christmas with Randy’s family. The bigness of it just took getting used to.
Our friends Jeff and Kim took their family to Disneyworld for Christmas. I’d like to do that someday too when the baby is old enough to enjoy it. Disneyworld is so much fun and to see it decorated for the holidays would be amazing.
Christmastime is really my favorite time of the year and I’ll be sad to see it end. I like it that people go out of their way to tell each other that they are appreciated or cared about. I like all of the extra cooking and baking. I like seeing Christmas lights make the smallest, scrawniest tree look grand. I like spending time thinking about friends and family as I write out Christmas cards.
I’m going to work at enjoying every moment and take the time to make some good memories. If life is about relationships, then I better get my butt off of this chair and go hang out with the people upstairs.
Merry Christmas!
